The Sikh Youth Leadership Retreat will provide participants with inspiration to craft a vision of what personal success looks like. Without a target, no path will find its destination. The retreat will help you set a target, because this is the first step in any journey that is worthwhile. Winning requires heart and sincerity. It’s important to remember, though, winning seldom happens alone, it requires a team. The second building block is about building and using your network as a platform for progress. It’s often said that success is a series of small wins. Small wins will add up, and lead to more success. The third building block is about having perseverance and discipline in going after small victories, without which larger success is seldom possible.
Now you have the vision, support network, and grit needed to succeed, what’s next?
We live in a society where individual achievement is lauded. We believe that real significance comes not from individual achievement, but from the difference we can make in the lives of others. The final building block is the realization that your “why” should be bigger than the individual self.
The first ever Sikh Youth Leadership Retreat welcomed 40 youth from across Ontario who spent a weekend learning, networking, and helping inspire the initiatives Nishkam Seva has since embarked on.
We had the honor of hosting remarkable guest speakers who truly inspired us. Among them were Baltej Dhillon, Canada’s first turban wearing RCMP officer, Manny Kohli, the President & CEO of leading vegan leather goods and fashion house, Matt & Nat, and Juggy Sihota, Chief Growth Officer at TELUS Health.
